Our Mission
To make getting work done more fun

Our origin story
We didn't start with software. We started in rooms.
For years, we ran high-stakes workshops and offsites for teams at Atlassian, ESPN, Visa, Disney, Twitch, and Intuit — designing creative sprints, feedback trainings, and strategy sessions that actually moved things forward.
One of our regular clients was Mark, who led marketing and development teams at Atlassian.
After every session, he said the same thing:
“That was incredible… now how do I get this for every meeting?”
But hiring us every week wasn’t scalable.
So instead of booking another session, Mark joined us.
Together, we built Funware™ — a platform that turns the live magic of Funmentum™ (the science, the structure, the energy) into self-guided, AI-powered team experiences anyone can run.

It started with facilitation
Now it's software.
Same outcomes. Less scheduling. More progress.

Our Science
Funware™ is built on principles from neuroscience, learning theory, and behavioral design. We design experiences that engage the brain and change behavior — whether you’re in a strategy sprint or a Monday morning check-in.
Why fun actually works
It feels like play.
But under the hood, it's rewiring how your team thinks and works together.
Here's what we engineer into every activity:
Cognitive Reframing
Break mental ruts. Reveal new paths. Ask smarter questions.
Emotional Activation
Surprise and laughter unlock openness, creativity, and memory.
Fast Feedback Loops
Momentum creates motivation. Our activities move fast and build confidence.

Our purpose

We believe people want to do great work. They just need better tools — and better formats.
Funware™ exists to:
-
Help teams get unstuck
-
Replace boring meetings with productive rituals
-
Turn collaboration into a source of energy, not exhaustion
-
Bring science-backed fun into places that need it most
Progress is the goal.
Fun is how we get there.
Who we are

Mark Halvorson
CEO & Head of Funware™
Mark is a Product, Marketing, and Creative Leader with over 20 years experience helping software products connect with their market.
He spent the last 9 years of his career at Atlassian running the Creative and Development teams behind http://atlassian.com and Atlassian University.
In his spare time he enjoys writing comedy, and performing improv & stand-up. Funware™ is the perfect combination of Mark's interests and abilities and he is really excited to help people have more fun at work!

Kenny White
Head of Operations and Occasional Mischief
Kenny spent 20 years helping some of the world’s biggest companies like Netflix, ESPN, HP and Ubisoft grow their brands.
As the co-founder and chief creativity architect at the ad agency How Funworks, Kenny discovered that his super power was learning to operationalize the “science of fun” to help people be more productive, creative, and connected. His work helped the company land on Inc 5000s Fastest Growing Companies, Adweek’s Top 100 Fastest Growing Agencies, and win an Ad Age Small Agency of the Year award.
When Kenny isn’t focused on scaling the science of fun, he is focused on having fun. He finds the most joy in playing with his kids (with his cell phone hidden in another room), discovering his physical limits through adventure (like bike packing the Great Divide), and exploring his mental limits through the occasional silent retreat or ice bath (brrrr).

Devin McNulty
Chief Experience Officer
Devin is obsessed with unlocking group creativity. To solve hard problems. To get everyone excited and on the same page. To find that one idea that changes everything. He has done it for companies like ESPN, Google, Credit Karma, Logitech and Ubisoft, leading to some of their greatest triumphs. He has helped lead multi-million dollar advertising campaigns, change the direction of key products, and align executive teams around their vision for the future. He has led training programs that change company culture to bring more energy, creative thinking and psychological safety.
Devin is obsessed with the Science of Fun, churning through 2-4 books a month from across the academic spectrum. Then he works to build those insights into Funmentum™, and proselytize his favorite books to anyone who will listen. You could say that he’s addicted to new insights.
Devin loves spending time with his kids, going on crazy adventures around the SF Bay Area or elsewhere. He feels so blessed to be living his exact life right now. He can’t wait to bring the power of productive play to all of the working world.

Katrina Kittle
Operations & Creative Systems Manager
Katrina has a reputation on the team for her “if there’s a way, she’ll find it” attitude. Reliable, resourceful, and endlessly curious, she loves solving problems and making the complex feel simple. From building automations and maintaining workflows to polishing assets and designing templates, she keeps the gears of Funware™ turning while adding a spark of creativity to every project.
She’s passionate about learning new tools, whether in web design, video editing, or the latest in AI training, and she enjoys putting that knowledge to work in ways that make the whole team sharper. Much of her effort happens behind the scenes, but her fingerprints are everywhere: in the smoother systems, the cleaner designs, and the small details that make Funware™’s work feel effortless.
What excites Katrina most is creating environments where curiosity and play fuel better work. She believes harmony in a team comes not only from checklists and timelines but also from spaces where people feel free to explore boldly, connect meaningfully, and bring out their best ideas.
Outside of work (and her California bubble), Katrina is busy testing the limits of Midwestern living in Indianapolis. She’s embracing new adventures one step at a time, but if you bring up snow shovels or subzero temps, expect a dramatic eye roll.

Where we're going
Today, Funware™ powers 25+ activities across every phase of the project lifecycle — from team syncs to brainstorms to retros.
Soon, we’ll offer even more ways to use AI, behavioral nudges, and self-guided tools to help teams make real progress — not just show up.
Because there’s nothing more fun than progress.
And nothing more frustrating than another “check-in” that checks out.
